Climate
The long rains are normally from April through to June and the shorter rains are from mid-November to mid-December. Days are generally sunny and there is a moderate to cool climate throughout the year. The altitude is 3,900 ft.

Recommended Equipment & Attire
Ndolwa House has an informal atmosphere so guests may dress according to their comfort. It is recommended that warm clothing be brought to be worn on chilly mornings and evenings. A pair of binoculars, camera and extra film or data cards are highly recommended. A hat, sunscreen, good walking shoes and comfortable khaki/bush colored clothing on bush walks are essential.

Malaria
Mosquitoes are minimal in the area, however visitors are advised to take precautions against malaria when traveling in Kenya.

Kenya Wildlife Service Smart Cards for Tsavo West National Park
All visitors to the park require a smart card loaded with dollars (non-residents) or Kenya shillings (residents and citizens) in order to enter the park. These can be arranged for with your agent or temporary smart cards can be purchased from the main Tsavo West National Park gate at Mitito Andei. Please note that smart cards can only be loaded at the main gate at Mitito Andei or from the Kenya Wildlife Service headquarters in Nairobi, Mombasa or Tsavo East headquarters.

Entry fees are currently $40 per non-resident adult per day and $20 per non-resident child per day (children are 18 years and younger). Please bring proof of personal identification with you.
